Separate Salt and Pepper

Aim:

To separate a mixture of Salt and Pepper using static electricity.

Materials Required:

Procedure:

This experiment to separate a mixture of salt and pepper using static electricity. Shake some salt on the tablecloth, then shake some pepper on top of it and mix it with your finger. The aim is to remove the pepper from the salt. Put a static charge on a hair comb by rubbing it a few times on some cloth. Bring one end of the comb to about an inch above the salt. The pepper particles which are lighter than salt, will be attracted to the comb and attach themselves to the comb.
