Objective
Investigate how various light conditions affect the growth of plants.
Materials
- Three potted plants of the same species
- Natural sunlight
- Artificial light source (e.g., lamp)
- Dark space (e.g., closet)
- Measuring tape or ruler
- Notebook for observations
Instructions
- Label each plant with a unique identifier (e.g., Plant A, Plant B, Plant C).
- Place Plant A in a spot where it receives natural sunlight.
- Place Plant B under an artificial light source that is on for the same amount of time each day.
- Place Plant C in a completely dark space.
- Water each plant with the same amount of water at the same intervals.
- Measure the height of each plant once a week using a measuring tape or ruler.
- Record your observations in a notebook, including any changes in plant color, leaf size, and overall health.
- Compare the growth of the plants after a set period, such as 4 weeks, and draw conclusions about the effect of different light conditions.
