Effect of Different Light Conditions on Plant Growth

by

in

Objective

Investigate how various light conditions affect the growth of plants.

Materials

  • Three potted plants of the same species
  • Natural sunlight
  • Artificial light source (e.g., lamp)
  • Dark space (e.g., closet)
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Notebook for observations

Instructions

  1. Label each plant with a unique identifier (e.g., Plant A, Plant B, Plant C).
  2. Place Plant A in a spot where it receives natural sunlight.
  3. Place Plant B under an artificial light source that is on for the same amount of time each day.
  4. Place Plant C in a completely dark space.
  5. Water each plant with the same amount of water at the same intervals.
  6. Measure the height of each plant once a week using a measuring tape or ruler.
  7. Record your observations in a notebook, including any changes in plant color, leaf size, and overall health.
  8. Compare the growth of the plants after a set period, such as 4 weeks, and draw conclusions about the effect of different light conditions.
