Exploring the Effects of Exercise on Heart Rate

by

in

Objective

Measure how physical activity impacts heart rate.

Materials

  • Stopwatch
  • Heart rate monitor or manual pulse measurement
  • Notebook for observations
  • Participants willing to exercise

Instructions

  1. Measure the resting heart rate of each participant by counting the number of beats per minute.
  2. Engage participants in different types of exercise (e.g., walking, jogging, sprinting) for a specified duration (e.g., 5 minutes each).
  3. Immediately measure the heart rate after each type of exercise using a heart rate monitor or manual pulse measurement.
  4. Record the heart rates in the notebook.
  5. Allow participants to rest until their heart rate returns to the resting rate between exercises.
  6. Graph the heart rate data to visualize the effect of different exercises.
  7. Analyze the results to understand how physical activity affects heart rate.
  8. Draw conclusions about the relationship between exercise intensity and heart rate.
