Objective
Measure how physical activity impacts heart rate.
Materials
- Stopwatch
- Heart rate monitor or manual pulse measurement
- Notebook for observations
- Participants willing to exercise
Instructions
- Measure the resting heart rate of each participant by counting the number of beats per minute.
- Engage participants in different types of exercise (e.g., walking, jogging, sprinting) for a specified duration (e.g., 5 minutes each).
- Immediately measure the heart rate after each type of exercise using a heart rate monitor or manual pulse measurement.
- Record the heart rates in the notebook.
- Allow participants to rest until their heart rate returns to the resting rate between exercises.
- Graph the heart rate data to visualize the effect of different exercises.
- Analyze the results to understand how physical activity affects heart rate.
- Draw conclusions about the relationship between exercise intensity and heart rate.
