Objective
Investigate how acid rain affects plant growth.
Materials
- Potted plants (same species and size)
- Vinegar
- Water
- pH strips
- Measuring cup
- Notebook for observations
Instructions
- Prepare a solution of vinegar and water to simulate acid rain with a pH similar to acid rain.
- Water one group of plants with the acidic solution and another group with regular water.
- Measure the pH of the solutions using pH strips.
- Water the plants at regular intervals with the respective solutions.
- Measure the growth of each plant weekly using a measuring tape or ruler.
- Record observations, including plant height, leaf color, and overall health in the notebook.
- Compare the growth and health of plants exposed to acid rain with those watered with regular water.
- Draw conclusions about the impact of acid rain on plant growth.
