Objective
Create a model to demonstrate the stages of the water cycle.
Materials
- Large, clear container (e.g., glass aquarium)
- Small plastic container
- Water
- Plastic wrap
- Ice cubes
- Sunlight or lamp
- Notebook for observations
Instructions
- Fill the large container with water to represent oceans or lakes.
- Place the small plastic container in the center, representing land.
- Cover the large container with plastic wrap and secure it tightly.
- Place ice cubes on top of the plastic wrap on one side to simulate cold atmosphere.
- Place the container in sunlight or under a lamp to provide heat.
- Observe and record the process of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation in your notebook.
- Note how water vapor rises, condenses on the plastic wrap, and drips into the small container.
- Analyze your observations to understand the water cycle processes.
- Present your findings in a report, explaining each stage of the water cycle.
