Objective
Create a simple hydraulic lift to understand the principles of hydraulics.
Materials
- Syringes (without needles)
- Plastic tubing
- Water
- Wood or cardboard for the platform
- Notebook for observations
Instructions
- Connect two syringes with plastic tubing and fill the system with water to remove air bubbles.
- Secure one syringe to a stable base and attach the platform to the other syringe.
- Press the plunger of the first syringe to raise the platform using hydraulic pressure.
- Observe and record the movement of the platform in your notebook.
- Experiment with different amounts of water and syringe sizes to see how it affects the lift.
- Analyze the principles of hydraulics demonstrated by your lift.
