Objective
Create a simple balloon-powered car to understand the principles of propulsion and motion.
Materials
- Cardboard
- Soda straws
- Balloons
- Plastic bottle caps (for wheels)
- Glue or tape
- Notebook for observations
Instructions
- Cut a piece of cardboard to serve as the base of the car.
- Attach soda straws to the bottom of the base to serve as axles.
- Glue or tape plastic bottle caps to the ends of the straws as wheels.
- Secure a balloon to the end of another straw and attach it to the base of the car.
- Blow up the balloon through the straw and release the car to see it move.
- Measure and record the distance the car travels in your notebook.
- Experiment with different balloon sizes and car designs to see how it affects the propulsion.
- Analyze your findings to understand the principles of propulsion and motion in vehicles.
