Objective
Build a simple catapult and test its ability to launch projectiles.
Materials
- Popsicle sticks
- Rubber bands
- Spoon (for the launching arm)
- Small objects (e.g., marshmallows, ping pong balls)
- Glue or tape
- Notebook for observations
Instructions
- Assemble the base of the catapult using popsicle sticks and glue or tape.
- Create the launching arm by attaching a spoon to a popsicle stick.
- Secure the launching arm to the base using rubber bands to provide tension.
- Test the catapult by placing a small object in the spoon and releasing the arm.
- Measure and record the distance each projectile travels in your notebook.
- Experiment with different rubber band tensions and arm lengths to see how it affects the launch distance.
- Analyze your results to understand the physics of projectile motion and catapult design.
