Objective

Measure how different types of exercise impact heart rate.

Materials

  • Stopwatch
  • Heart rate monitor or manual pulse measurement
  • Notebook for recording data
  • Participants

Instructions

  1. Measure the resting heart rate of each participant.
  2. Select different exercises (e.g., walking, jogging, cycling) and perform each for a set duration (e.g., 5 minutes).
  3. Measure the heart rate immediately after each exercise.
  4. Record the heart rates in your notebook, along with the exercise type and duration.
  5. Allow participants to rest until their heart rate returns to normal between exercises.
  6. Graph and analyze the impact of each exercise type on heart rate.
  7. Present your findings, discussing how different exercises affect cardiovascular health.
