Objective
Demonstrate the principle of conservation of energy using simple machines.
Materials
- Ramp or inclined plane
- Roller or toy car
- Spring scale
- Weights
- Timer
- Notebook for recording data
Instructions
- Set up a ramp and measure its height and length.
- Place a roller or toy car at the top of the ramp and release it. Use a timer to measure the time it takes to reach the bottom.
- Calculate the gravitational potential energy at the top and the kinetic energy at the bottom.
- Repeat the experiment with different ramp heights and weights.
- Record your measurements and calculations in your notebook.
- Analyze your findings to understand the conservation of energy in the system.
- Present your results in a report, explaining the principle of energy conservation and its significance.
