Objective
Create a simple robot arm to understand basic robotics and mechanics.
Materials
- Cardboard
- Straws
- String
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Notebook for observations
Instructions
- Cut cardboard into pieces for the arm segments and joints.
- Assemble the arm by gluing the segments together with straws as pivot points.
- Thread string through the straws to act as tendons for moving the arm.
- Attach a handle to the strings to control the arm’s movement.
- Test the robot arm by picking up small objects and moving them.
- Record your observations in your notebook, noting any difficulties or improvements needed.
- Analyze the mechanics of the robot arm and how it mimics human arm movement.
